OUR MISSION
Economic
Diversification (CEED) of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, is
designed to help meet the needs of the area, in providing jobs and
maintaining a solid, long-term economic base. The program uses the
facilities and expertise of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin
and works in partnership with others to facilitate regional economic
development. Services provided include community studies, economic
data for the region, technical assistance, training, workshops, grant
facilitation, leadership facilitation and project design and
implementation for regional economic development partnerships. This
program partners with economic development agencies, communities, and
individuals working to diversify the employment base in West Texas and
southeastern New Mexico.

GOALS
The EDP helps communities address economic distress by identifying
economic development problems. With the assistance of the EDP communities can attract
new industry, encourage business expansion, diversify economies, and generate long-term,
jobs.

SERVICES
The EDP provides counseling and consulting services. The EDP encourages
communities and economic development agencies, as well as businesses, to discuss their
ideas with EDP personnel, and when appropriate contract for in-depth specialized
services provided by the University of Texas of the Permian Basin faculty and staff.

ELIGIBILITY
Any individual, business, community, agency, or economic development organization may
request assistance. The decision to accept an assignment or participate in the project
rests solely with the EDP and is determined on the basis of potential economic impact
and contribution to the stabilization and/ or creation of jobs.

FEES
Initial assistance and consultation from the EDP
are provided without
charge. Subsequent assistance that requires prolonged commitment of EDP resources may
necessitate cost-sharing arrangements that help recover all or a portion of the expenses.
Charges are for costs not covered by our regular budget. Participants
will be given a proposal prior to any charge. An agreement will be
finalized to confirm potential costs.
The
Economic Diversification Program (EDP) is funded
through
the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification (CEED) and
The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB).
