1. What is EDP?

Ans: EDP stands for the Economic Diversification Program of the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin. This is a program sponsored by the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification and The University of Texas of the Permian Basin. The purpose of the program is to provide assistance, which will enhance local economies and provide jobs for the citizens.

Typical services includes:

2. What are the primary goals of EDP?

Ans:  The EDP strives to make the faculty and staff of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin available for specialized and knowledgeable studies on topics of economic development importance.

The center provides support to economic development Organizations, Cities, Counties, businesses. and others interested in the development of local economies.

3. What counties are served by EDP?

The center serves the following thirty-nine primary counties: Andrews, Borden, Brewster, Coke, Concho, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Hudspeth, Irion, Kimble, Loving, Martin, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Midland, Pecos, Presidio, Reagan, Reeves, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton, Terrell, Tom Green, Upton, Ward, and Winkler in West Texas plus Eddy and Lea in southeastern New Mexico.

The EDP is available to consult and/or perform research with any county in the five state area of: Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

4. What fees can you expect?

Ans:  Initial assistance and consultation is provided without charge within the above counties or at the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification. Subsequent assistance that requires prolonged commitment of EDP resources may necessitate cost-sharing arrangements that help recover all or a portion of the expenses.  The project is a joint one and will require partnering of the client.

5. What is the EDP Newsletter?

Ans:  EDP Newsletter is the program's newsletter. Each issue presents information on the Program's activities, research findings, and economic development issues facing communities. Comments and suggestions are invited regarding possible topics or issues. Please forward your ideas to Newsletter c/o the Program.   If you are not on our list, please let us know of your interest.
